The nice people...

The school staff, parents and councillors have been very nice to us lately. First the councillors come up with some food delivery service, then give us mugging packs. Next, RPA gives food to J2s mugging for prelims, and now stall 5 is giving us (yes, again, j2s only, sorry j1s, wait for your turn and don't be dishonourable!) lollipops. lol. (bad pun intended)

And the last day of our prelims (last friday), check out what was in the lift:



Tadah! Yes, pity it barely lasted half an hour before it was taken out of the lift. But hey, it did provide plenty of amusement on the last day of prelims at 7 in the morning while it lasted. For those who still can't see what the sign says, it reads:

5 days of fun comes to an end

wow.. just realised blogger got new add video function. But I'm not bothering to try that out now. No mood lah. I'm feeling quite worried now. I know I shouldn't, and it's not going to make a difference and it's just a waste of time and energy to be worried, but I can't quite help it. And somehow I find that it's more erm... therapeutic to just feel this way then to try and suppress the anxiety. =S So instead of whiling away the hours before I feel sleepy and since I'm in no mood to really begin mugging again yet, here I am. As always.

It's been a pretty wonderful 5 day post-prelim break I suppose, apart from yesterday which was totally wasted indulging in the evil pleasures of computer games. But it was rather enjoyable to do just slack around for a while heh. But yes, besides that, Monday was great cause I had my first driving practical lesson! YESH! At loooong last the day I've waited for finally!

Well, of course I'm looking forward to actually getting my license more, but then there'll be no more kick of driving a manual car and playing around with the gears and yes, the clutch! Ah, stupid thing, make me stall the car so many times.. heh. Fine, I'm lousy, keep having the tendency to release the clutch too fast when moving off from like junctions or stopping. Then once in a while I forget to change back to first gear... and checking mirrors all the time is really not natural for me..... yet (I hope)

Ah, I shall admit that it was really a bit of a psychomotor challenge for me. Even things like only using the right foot for both break and accelerator which seemed so easy in the book were a bit weird at the beginning when you're trying stop at a junction to make a turn, and then there are obstructions in that lane. Rawr.. haha, but not bad lah, toward the end of the lesson the instructor lemme do some of the turns myself, but must get used to gauging how much to turn the steering wheel. Heh, at such slow speeds, not every turn requires a swing of the steering wheel like in Daytona! Shall attempt to correct all these by... tomorrow! haha, second lesson after school. At least gives me something to look forward to.

Speaking of Daytona. That game amazes me. It's been around pretty much most of my life so far and it's still around in arcades. Heck, I think it outlasted it's successor Daytona USA 2. Lol, perhaps cause it's ultimately a really simple racing game, which to my disappointment, I just found out that the drift in the game's pretty stupid. Just slam break once and turn at the same time and you'll auto drift. With good timing, you can maintain speed or even increase it before finishing the bend. Bah.

But it's simplicity is also probably what enabled it to last so long. And so it was a simple game, until today when I got introduced to this to the maxxx version during class outing where I met the tksspm people lol. Got some nonsense turbo and max speed thingy. But sadly though, we still got pwned as this woman sitting beside us with a kid on her lap managed, through proper driving, like slowing down at corners, to overtake us each time those crazy backseat drivers messed with the engines.

Haha, at this time shall insert a commercial here since this is turning out to be a very long post.. Oh well, guess that's what happens when I'm just spamming whatever comes to mind. The vocab tends to be limited too yikes. Anyway, the daytona at Paradiz rocks! It's about 47 cents per game and their beginner track is like 20 laps. That makes it at less than 1/4 the price of the one at J8! Talk about price discrimination at J8. lol

Class lunch today at Manhattan Fish Market was pretty good. Haha, should have tried the platter(it had more variety) but the salmon was pretty good too. Slightly small in length and breadth but it made up in width heh. But more importantly the taste was quite nice! Ah, shall drag my parents there for the platter some day.

And last but certainly not least, also went bowling with chin, jere, dali and *gasp* willy in the morning. Haha, not bad, 2.70 per game since it was a weekday morning and we are students. Lol, too long nvr play liao, cannot 过百 and trying to do spins and hook shots was hilarious. I still maintain that your thumb IS supposed to go into the hole though! (See: wikihow) Oh yes, also got to play pool with the class in the afternoon too! Yesh! After like half a year. And miracle, the girls came too, after we gave them 10 mins (which I'll just mention turned out to be 40 mins) at Daiso or wtv that shop's called lol. Ah, but too lousy alr, lost all =(

But still it's been a great break, with learning to drive, movie, captain's ball, bowling, pool class lunch, arcade, com games... Ah.. now I can happily go up the mountain and follow the ways of the hermit with no 遗憾 from the world! Now if only prelim results could be this good..

Ah, the weekend's been going pretty well, can put yet another check on the list of things I want to do. Haha, no, the title of the post doesn't have anything to do with this so far. I'm talking about actually going to school on a Sunday just to play uh.. captain's ball and a bit of frisbee lol. It may not have been much, but still, for a person like me who has only exercised his brain and nothing more, it's quite a workout already.. haiz. I was quite surprised, about 13 people or so turned up. That's half the class would you believe it?!

And as a bonus, after that I went to watch 881 with my family. It was one of those rare, once in a blue moon occurrences so I was pretty happy about it. Unfortunately when they decided to watch at Vivo instead, I forgot that the timing also changed! Ah... and what a costly mistake that 10 min difference made - it burnt a 10 dollar hole in my pocket on taxi fare. =(

And while we're in the spirit of having rare occurrences, an even rarer one took place. I actually cried in a movie. >.> Yes, cried, not just teared. Like the last time I remember really crying cause of a show was way back in uh.. kindergarten or lower primary. (That time was worse though) This time the show was sad, but the last scene with the song, Last Breath, was just imba. Ahh just couldn't take it.

But in general the show was pretty interesting. It was funny, sad and ridiculous rolled into one, and really shed light on the getai culture in Singapore. The songs were great too, suits the show pretty well with even those that were written for the show being made to have a more retro feel with the lyrics using old or local terminology. (eg, see pai poh for SGH and Ang Teng (beh tao) for Clifford Pier). And it was really amusing that when the "Xian Gu" gave them 明珠之音 (voices of the Mingzhu Sisters), she really meant it, the songs were actually sung by the Mingzhu Sisters!

Haha, really should go watch if you understand Hokkien. If not, the Mandarin subtitles help (haha, my Hokkien's not very good either), but still it's only about 70% accurate due to limitations in translation.

To end off, I shall do a little complaining! Yes, the seats at Vivo were horrible. Third row from the front is way way way worse than that of Junction 8's, and almost all the seats, (third row onwards at least, I didn't check them all) were at a near 90 to about 85 degree angle! And they were still very hard, so you can't like slouch or sink into the seat to get a comfortable viewing angle, even though we took some empty seats toward the back half of the theatre. Also, I just read that shoujld stay for the end of the credits.. which we didn't.<>.<>Bahh... So if anyone knows what it is, please tag, thnx!

At long last..

..for now at least. Finally made it to the end of prelims and what a journey it has been. Didn't even dare to do much for like one whole month and ended up kinda burning out toward the last few papers. Haiz.. Really dunno how I'll do; Feeling very uncertain. I've never felt this unprepared I think - somehow it always feels that there was so much more that I could have do. Bah..

Alas this is no time to lament, for time is really running short. 5 more weeks to A's, and 5 more days till the results come out. Must really seize this opportunity to recuperate before the cycle starts all over again. There's so many things I want to do: Play Pool!!! (Rawrrrr...) Go to some beach, play some sport game, go play, go try something new perhaps?

Well, so far it's pretty good I guess, went to watch Ratatouille today with erm.. part of the class. Haha, not bad really, quite cute and nice lol. Go watch if you haven't. And then went to settlers cafe for the first time as a result of a defeat in the battle of passage to paradiz for pool. (Oh well, we'll succeed next time!) But anyway settler's wasn't THAT bad I guess, quite fun, played a few new games, made a lot of noise, saw people lose their voices... but I do miss pool.. lol it's been so long.

Also went for my cousin's wedding today at some Grand Shanghai restaurant. Lol, thought it was just some stupid shanghainese restaurant at first but it turned out to have a pretty cool ambience! The place was designed to be like those 60s Shanghai restaurant where people go to eat and also listen to some songs (think the kind you see in 上海滩) and they really did have those funky tables and seats and a house band performing all those chinese oldies! Boy, I've never heard that many chinese songs from that era at one shot in my whole life! But yes, it was certainly a unique experience.. (there wasn't even a single english song on the track list too!)

Oh, and after not hearing 6F's most oversung *cough* song - romeo and zhu ying tai by cao ge, I finally heard it again. As the "wedding song" no less. Lol. >.>
