I saw it again. Slightly more than a year has passed since the last time. I never wished for, nor thought that I would see it again, but that day, the day of the IHC dragonboating competition when the menacing heat of the sun was beating down on those at the Kallang Basin, it appeared again. The sun's rays passed through the thin threads of water vapour at the edge of a cloud to form a rainbow of sorts providing a simple but mesmerising display which captivated the attention of all who saw it.

It was interesting. For a split second, competiton was forgotten and murmurs were adrift discussing the scientific rationale behind phenomenon. Oh well, I lost inspiration to write this post. Signing off for now, shall upload that picture from one year ago when the connection stops dying.

IHC News

After 2 more days of IHC Sports Carnival, this reporter-wannabe is back again with a wrap up on 2 and a half events.

In the shooting competition on Wednesday, it was a close fight in the snakes and ladders category which saw MR, HH and BB fighting for the top 3 positions while MT and BW were seemingly fighting to be last, looking at the huge gap between the 2 groups. Initially HH was hot on the heels of pursuit of MR with BB trailing behind. Due to unforseen circumstances and what this reporter believes is a sheer streak of luck, both MR and BB managed to take the ladder up to the 99th(out of 100) squares, although the feat was accomplished by MR about 5 turns before BB did so. HH on the other hand managed to take the ladder up to the 90th square from square 72, narrowly missing the snake on square 71.

The highlight came from the showdown between BB and HH to clinch the second position. Initially all conditions were right for HH as all that was needed was a total COMBINED score of 10 from 2 shooters. The first shooter took her aim with the pistol and got a 6, bringing that position almost within the grasp of HH. The second shooter went up with a pistol as well and... missed completely, thus giving BB another shot to get that second position before HH and with just one more point needed, they did it easily, with Richard shooting an 8 to secure the position.

Well, as previously mentioned in another article, if you can't have it to yourself, share! So we share we did and managed to narrowly cross the finish line on the same turn thus giving us a joint second position.

(lol... personally I was quite happy, managed to produce consistent result even after not touching the gun in ages... I blame the sights for the lack of accuracy =P)

In the fire in the hole category which this reporter decided was not worth missing a game of BBall with part of the Brudderhood, HH managed to take home the gold.

Things weren't that good in the Dragonboating competition which took place yesterday however. The overall standings were MR first for Guys and BB first for Girls. HH got last and second respectively. Despite the disappointing results however, the race was an exciting one nonetheless.

In the first guys race, the initial standings were BB,BW,MT,MR,HH (second and third may be wrong) . However, due to some 'hiccups', a dispute arose as BB fielded a total of 11 people with 2 girls whilst the rest fielded a max of 10 including girls to make up for the lack of male participants. (HH however, only had 8 guys.) As such, BW protested the results and after a vote and further disagreements, a compromise was reached with the help of the teacher in charge and each house was to send their best 7 guys to compete again.

This time round, BB came in forth whilst MR came in first while the other positions remained relatively unchanged and eventually a decision was made to take the second results which were produced under more fair conditions.

Pretty interesting the way the whole thing was handled. Ayy Aii... guess screw ups were to be expected considering it was an inaugural event. Oh well, pretty well done anyway I guess.

In 2 other events, HH mixed team came in second in the adventure race(Congrats Willy!) and last in Volleyball. Argh... I want to give up on my house...lol...

Interclass Frisbee

At the finals of the recently concluded interclass Frisbee competition, things were certainly exciting indeed. In an surprising twist of events, the class of 07S06F was suddenly looking at clinching gold and bronze. After much deliberation and planning, the class decided to send Singapore team A against team Chinese (Imba) National to fight for gold and Singapore reserve team to secure the bronze.

As this writer was part of the reserve team, he can only comment on the fight for 3rd place which was a well fought one which started off with the opposing team crying that this team had not crossed the line to score when the opposite was clear as day. And contrary to expectations, the Singapore backup team soared into an early lead, winning by 2 points. But like they say, it's not over till the cows come home and sure enough, a point was scored by the opposition within the next 2 minutes.

More exciting play continued with possession being changed about 2 to 3 times in a matter of seconds as we approached the closing seconds of play. Then, a brilliant throw by the opposition sent the frisbee gliding through 4/5 the pitch where it landed nicely into the hands of
yet another opposition player who clinched the final point to end the game in a draw by passing it back and forth with a team mate till they crossed the line.

Oh well, if you can't have it to yourself, share. =D

In the concurrent finals playoff, the Singapore team could only watch as China Nationals threw frisbees which soared across the field, out of reach of the whole team and land nicely at the opposite side to score a beautiful point. The final score? 2-1 to team Imba.

At the prize presentation ceremony shortly after, the winning team received a bag of food prizes but to everyone's dismay, the second and third placings were not announced! What an outrage! But as they say, 公道自在人心. (Justice is in the hearts of the people) We know who won anyway and what a good game it has been. Kudos to 07S06F!

Making my peace

ahh... it's been so long since I've just happily blogged away the happenings of my day. The past few posts have been either crappy ones written under the stress from the common tests or just filled with angst (even though I don't fully comprehend the word <>.<>).

It's the little things

It's been such a long time. Or at least it sure feels like it. So much has happened within this short period of just slightly over half a year that I'm not even sure what to make of it.

To put it simply, I feel like I've just stepped into A Whole New World with so many things I never knew. True to the song though, I've also been "soaring, tumbling and free-wheeling".

Everything was so perfect, it was filled with enough short comings amidst the good that it wasn't too good to be true. Then, I actually enjoyed school. Missed it, looked forward to it too - at least the people that is. Well, looking back even further, this was perhaps only the second time I ever felt that way, the first being the days back in sec 2 when the brotherhood started to really know each other.

However, I really never should have believed things could just be that good. I mean, how good can school really get? Before I knew it, things started to become one hell of a ride with so many highs and lows that I don't even know what to make of it - totally new situations and emotions which I never understood could exist came charging at me so fast I never fully got to know them.

At the end of it all, I look back from where I am only to see a trail blazed as if by a hurricane. So scattered, so messy that I've no idea how it got to this and where to go from here. I'm lost. One thing I do know however, is that it was never a single blow. It was always the little things.

51st post

Just realised that I just got past my 50th post. Yay!! lol... milestone sia.. Was supposed to post something about it as the 50th post. But then I forgot and wrote some crap that no one would understand anyway.

Lol... So yea, CTs are over, probably the longest weekend of the year is here, I have no idea why you're here reading this... I don't even know why I'm writing this. What the heck.. Go enjoy life before the CT results are released... I'm outta here.
