Random thought(s) of the day

Isn't it fascinating how plants, being non-cognitive organisms are able to respond to the changes in the environment in a myriad of ways purely through chemical interactions of the external stimuli and the components of the plant?

And even more so, that under certain circumstances, the interaction of these non-living atoms and molecules can give rise to "higher order" organisms capable of thought and even meta cognition, not forgetting consciousness.

Indeed, some would argue that it all boils down to physics. But my bias toward chemistry will stop me from going further. :D

Nature is just truly awe-inspiring.
